Weaponized Flesh
Weaponized Flesh began in early 2019 when guitarist/vocalist Kris Deason (Hot Fudge/Outersea/Dark Meat/Subversivo) began jamming some thrash riffs with drummer Jason Griffin (American Cheesburger/Apparition/Tres Kids). Bassist John Lukas (Hot Fudge/Cop Dope) and guitarist Kemp Stroble (Hot Fudge/Yallweh/Ya’al H’ush) were asked to join afterwards when it became apparent these songs were SICK.
The songs have the essential elements of thrash metal, as well as d-beat punk and hardcore, but they aren’t any sort of intentional “crossover”. “Too punk for metal and too metal for punk” it has been said. The band is simply loud, fast and, well, fast and loud.
Weaponized Flesh began performing live in summer 2019, first appearing at Slopfest on July 20, 2019. The band then began working on their debut EP “Demo 2020” recorded and mixed by Al Daglis, mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air and featured artwork by Stephanie Rivers. It was self-released digitally via Bandcamp and shortly afterwards Athens ex-pat Steve Miller put it out on cassette on his label Hail Shitar. It sold out quickly and was re-released with a bonus b-side of a live set from Caledonia Lounge on October 4, 2019, recorded by Sloan Simpson.
In early 2022 Kemp Stroble purchased some recording gear and recorded the second EP “Hurtful” at Kindercore Vinyl and at his home studio. When tracking was complete the band got Jason Roach (Outersea/Maximum Busy Muscle) to mix the EP and Will Killingsworth/Dead Air again was tapped for the mastering. Athens local Klon Waldrip provided the cover artwork for “Hurtful.”
