KidsFest is proud to present and provide a stage to some of Athens newest and freshest talent in our area. The musical history and influence of Athens plants the creative seeds in our youth. In addition, such programs as AthFest Educates!, The UGA Strings Project, and school music programs cultivate a love and knowledge of music. See what talent we have growing in our area and who will be keeping Athens in the musical spotlight for years to come.
Other KidsFest Activities from Previous Festivals:
KidsFest Parade: Be a part of the first AthFest parade! Wear goofy costumes, dance, play music, and rock through AthFest while makin’ some noise with the whole KidsFest crew. Make a homemade instrument in the craft area to play and show during the parade.
Athfest Educates! Showcase: This spectacular showcase will feature students from the UGA String Project using instruments donated by Athfest, as well as other students and musicians involved in Athfest Educates! programs.
Open Mic times: Come one, come all…..young musicians! All kids are invited to showcase their musical talents on the KidsFest stage. Come early to sign up for a 5-10 minute time slot under the KidsFest tents. Time slots are first come first serve and will fill up fast.
New Revolution Taekwondo: Watch as boards are broken, aerial tricks & stunts performed, and high-level kicking/punching combinations are demonstrated by New Revolution’s demo teams.
Rock Star Photo Booth: Come participate in a fundraiser brought to you by and benefiting Athfest Educates! All children are invited to participate in hair styling and costuming, followed by a brief photo shoot on a stage set. Photo shoots can include individual children or groups. Pictures will be available online for a suggested donation of $10 following the photo shoot. All proceeds will support Athfest Educates! programs. KidsFest Art Contest Showcase: Kids from all over the Athens area have submitted their best art creations with an Athens music theme, which will be displayed in the KidsFest area.
Homemade Instrument Making: Come by to make your favorite instrument out of recycled materials! Make a guitar, a tambourine, a drum, a noise maker, or make up your own instrument to play during the new KidsFest Parade.
*Up N’ Away Balloons: Come down to hang out with Mr. Clown for balloon twisting at the AthFest Education/AthFest Fundraising table.
*Songwriting Workshop: Work as a group to create some of the most hilarious and wonderful songs imaginable in this workshop underneath the KidsFest tents.
*Hula Hoop workshop: Come hoop with us! We’ll dance, play, exercise, and learn some new tricks in a free hula hoop workshop. Adults and parents encouraged to come and participate too.
