The Artist Market will again be held on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of AthFest (June 22-24), and we anticipate having approximately 40 artists as in recent years.
Artist Market applications are available on the website’s Artist Market page.
The application fee is $20 and is non-refundable. The booth fee for a 10 x 10 booth will again be $130. A limited number of double-booths and preferred placements may be made available once the initial artist selection has taken place. There will be additional fees for extra booth space and preferred placements. That information will be conveyed to accepted artists when it becomes available.
Applications and payments must be postmarked by April 1st and the initial selection will take place in mid-to-late April. If spaces are available after the initial artist selection, extra space or preferred placements will be accommodated. Any remaining space will be filled only after those requests are handled.
Artist Market Committee Positions
Jury
All artist submissions are reviewed by a jury comprised of artists and members of the AthFest organization. Typically, 2 artists sit on this committee with the Artist Market Chair. Review of submissions takes place in mid-April and may be held in person or online, depending on availability of the jury members.
Judges
Judging is conducted during the Artist Market to select artists for recognition and cash awards. Typically, we have 2 judges, and they coordinate a time to meet and walk around the festival and talk with artists and learn about their art and artistic processes and to judge the overall presentation of their work. Afterwards, the judges meet with the artist market chair to discuss awards and choose winners, and if available, they assist with awarding the prizes. Review takes place early Saturday and awards are distributed Saturday evening.

Artist Market Assistant

AthFest is an Athens-based annual music and arts festival featuring local bands, solo musicians, varied artistry vendors, comics, indie films, and children’s events. AthFest has always been a wonderful event loved by all. In its 15th year, the festival gets even better, with the recent release of the AthFest App smart phone application.
The AthFest App simplifies the festival and all of its greatness right in the palm of your hand. With interactive features such as a scrollable version of the 2011 lineup, sortable alphabetically and by date or venue; a GPS-enhanced map of downtown Athens; band bio pages with links to purchase their tunes and watch music videos; as well as a personal schedule, fully customized by your choice of shows. And hey, the developers even included a lighter flame for users to hold up during night shows. Why not?
The app is compatible with the Apple iPhone, iPhone Touch, and iPad and was designed by four University students in the New Media Institute Capstone class of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. The AthFest App was developed this past spring semester by mass media arts major Matt Evans, advertising majors Marisa Negri and Jessica Severens, and sociology major David Cherof in collaboration with Athfest Inc, the UGA New Media Institute, and Phazr Design.
